Abstract
An efficient deformable image registration method using Mexican hat wavelets is presented. Image registration algorithm is expressed as an optimization problem by the minimization of a summation of a similarity measure and a regularization term. A discrete L2-norm type similarity measure is associated with probabilistic wavelet coefficient regularization term. Greedy algorithm is used to solve the aforementioned optimization problem. Computational applications indicate that the present method is quite fast and efficient in the registration of brain MR images.
