Author Fees and Open Access

Fee schedule reviewed: July 2026

Journal of Environmental Accounting and Management uses a hybrid publication model. Subscription content is available to authorized individual or institutional subscribers. Authors of accepted manuscripts may instead select immediate Open Access. An optional accelerated production service is also available after acceptance.

Author fees

All amounts below are in US dollars. There is no fee to submit a manuscript or to undergo peer review. The optional services are offered only after a manuscript has received final acceptance through the journal's normal editorial and peer-review process.

Publication route or service Author charge What the charge covers
Standard publication No author charge Normal post-acceptance production and issue scheduling; access is governed by the article's subscription and copyright terms.
Optional Expedited Publication (Accelerated Production Service) USD 899 per accepted article Priority copy preparation, typesetting, proof handling, and issue assembly after acceptance for a subscription-access article. The editorial office will aim for the next scheduled issue, subject to the production cutoff and available issue capacity.
Open Access publication USD 1,988 per accepted article Free and immediate online access on publication. The same expedited post-acceptance production service is automatically included at no additional charge.

The fees are mutually exclusive and are never added together. An author selecting Open Access pays a total of USD 1,988, because expedited post-acceptance production is already included. An author selecting expedited publication without Open Access pays USD 899, and the published article remains under the journal's subscription-access model. The two fees are never combined for the same article.

Accelerated production: scope and limits

The Accelerated Production Service begins only after final acceptance. It does not provide expedited peer review, a favorable editorial decision, reduced revision requirements, or guaranteed acceptance. It changes only the post-acceptance production queue. All manuscripts are evaluated under the same editorial and ethical standards whether or not an author later purchases this service.

Placement in the next scheduled issue is a production target, not an unconditional guarantee. Before requesting payment, the editorial office will confirm whether the manuscript is likely to meet the applicable production cutoff. If the publisher accepts payment but cannot provide the accelerated service, the acceleration charge will be refunded or credited at the author's choice.

Open Access, license, and reuse

An author who selects Open Access pays only after final acceptance. The published article is available to all readers immediately, without login. New paid Open Access articles are normally published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0), unless a different license is agreed in writing before publication. The exact license and reuse terms are shown on both the article landing page and the final PDF.

Legacy and subscription content

Some legacy articles are publicly readable but retain their original copyright notice. Public availability alone does not grant reuse rights. The article-level license or copyright notice always governs reuse.

Subscription-only content remains protected by the copyright statement shown with the article. Permission requests should be directed to the publisher.

Online payment

These are flat, mutually exclusive fees per accepted article and do not depend on manuscript length or final page count. After final acceptance, the editorial office records the selected publication route in OJS. For a paid option, the corresponding author receives a secure payment link showing either USD 899 for expedited subscription publication or USD 1,988 for Open Access publication with expedited production included—never both charges. Payment is completed online through the journal's configured payment provider. Authors should pay only through the official link generated for their accepted manuscript.

Waivers and editorial independence

Authors without grant or institutional support may request a full or partial Open Access waiver before the payment request is issued by providing a brief statement of funding circumstances. Waiver requests are handled administratively and are not shared with reviewers or the editor responsible for the decision. The availability or outcome of a waiver request does not affect peer review, acceptance, or editorial treatment.

Payment, non-payment, or the choice of standard, accelerated, or Open Access publication has no influence on the editorial decision. Editors and reviewers do not negotiate fees. No payment can secure acceptance.

Questions and payment assistance

After final acceptance, authors may contact Professor Albert Luo at albertluo@lhscientificpublishing.com. Please include the journal name, manuscript ID, article title, corresponding author, selected publication option, and funding or waiver information, if applicable. General Open Access questions may be sent to the same address.
