Ethics Guidelines

Journal of Applied Nonlinear Dynamics is committed to an accurate and trustworthy scholarly record. Editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher share responsibility for integrity, transparency, fairness, and timely correction of the literature. The policy is informed by the COPE Core Practices and the ICMJE Recommendations.
Author responsibilities
- Submit original work that is not under consideration elsewhere and identify related manuscripts, preprints, and overlapping publications.
- Credit all sources accurately and obtain permission for copyrighted material.
- List as authors only people who made substantial scholarly contributions, approved the submitted version, and accept accountability for the work. Other contributions should be acknowledged.
- Disclose funding, financial and non-financial competing interests, and relevant institutional relationships.
- Describe data, methods, software, and materials sufficiently to support evaluation and reproducibility. Provide a data availability statement or explain legitimate restrictions.
- Report human or animal research approvals, informed consent, registrations, and applicable standards when relevant.
- Notify the journal promptly of a material error before or after publication.
Plagiarism and redundant publication
Submissions may be screened with similarity-checking tools and by editorial review. A similarity score is not itself a finding of misconduct; context, attribution, quotation, methods text, and legitimate reuse are considered. Plagiarism, fabricated citations, duplicate publication, concealed text recycling, and manipulation intended to defeat screening are not accepted.
Data, images, and research records
Fabrication, falsification, selective alteration, deceptive image manipulation, and unsupported claims are prohibited. Authors should retain underlying records for a period appropriate to the field and make them available for editorial assessment when ethically and legally possible. Confidential, proprietary, security-sensitive, or personally identifiable data may be restricted with an explanation.
Competing interests and editorial independence
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose relationships that could affect judgment. Editors recuse themselves when a conflict exists. Commercial, institutional, or owner interests do not determine editorial decisions, and acceptance is not contingent on purchasing open access, subscriptions, reprints, or other services.
Use of artificial intelligence
AI tools cannot be authors because they cannot accept responsibility. Authors remain accountable for all submitted content and must disclose material use of generative AI in writing, analysis, coding, image generation, or translation, except routine spelling and grammar assistance. AI-generated or altered images and data must not misrepresent results. Reviewers and editors must not place confidential manuscript content into third-party AI services without explicit authorization and appropriate safeguards.
Corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern
Errors that do not invalidate the main conclusions may be corrected through a linked correction. Findings that are unreliable because of honest error or misconduct, substantially redundant publication, unethical research, or compromised review may require retraction. An expression of concern may be issued while a consequential matter is unresolved. Notices remain permanently linked to the article and explain the reason without defamatory or speculative language.
Misconduct inquiries, complaints, and appeals
The journal assesses allegations fairly, confidentially, and without retaliation. It may request evidence and contact institutions, funders, reviewers, authors, or other journals when appropriate. The journal does not determine legal guilt but acts to protect the scholarly record. Complaints and reasoned appeals should be sent to the journal contact or publisher and should identify the article, decision, or conduct at issue.
Copyright, access, and licenses
Every article landing page states its access status and applicable license or copyright terms. Creative Commons terms govern articles carrying a Creative Commons license. Publicly readable legacy content without a Creative Commons license retains the copyright notice stated in the article.
