Bylaws for Editorial Policies

Bylaws for editorial policies and practices for Discontinuity, Nonlinearity, and Complexity. Sections 1, 2.1-2.3 and 4.4 were revised on 11 September 2026 to align the journal's scope, post-publication policies, and copyright / Open Access arrangements.

Scope and policy precedence

DNC covers discontinuity, nonlinearity, and complexity in the physical and social sciences, including mathematical methods, biological dynamics, and complex social systems. Submissions must contribute within the current Aims and Scope.

Corrections and post-publication action

Scientific errors and omissions may be corrected when they do not invalidate the main conclusions. Requests are not excluded solely because of the time elapsed since publication. Retractions and expressions of concern are assessed under the Publication Ethics Policy, with notices permanently linked to the article.

Copyright and Open Access

After acceptance, submit both pages of the Copyright Form and Publication Option / Open Access Addendum. The agreed Open Access addendum supplements the base form and takes precedence over conflicting reuse restrictions. The final PDF and article landing page must carry matching license notices. See Author Fees and Open Access for publication routes and conditions. This does not automatically relicense previously published articles.

The revised sections supersede the corresponding provisions of the previous bylaws. For scope and post-publication action, the current Aims and Scope and Publication Ethics Policy govern. Other provisions are retained from the previous edition.
